The procedure typically takes 30-60 minutes. Most patients spend one night in the hospital and are back to their normal routine, walking, climbing stairs, daily activities within a few days. There is no large incision. The catheter enters through the wrist.
A CT coronary angiography CT CAG uses a scanner and contrast dye to produce detailed images of your heart arteries without any catheter or hospital admission. A conventional angiogram is more invasive but gives more precise details before a procedure. For most patients who need clarification of a possible blockage, CT CAG is the right first investigation. We will advise which is appropriate for your situation.
TAVI allows a new heart valve to be implanted without opening the chest through a small puncture in the groin. It was developed for patients who are high-risk for open surgery, and is now available to a broader range of patients. Our structural heart team will assess your valve condition, your CT scan, and your overall health before recommending TAVI or another approach.
Angioplasty opens a blocked artery using a catheter and stent, done through the wrist, with no large incision; most patients go home the next morning. Bypass surgery creates new routes around blocked arteries and is typically recommended when multiple arteries are severely affected, particularly in diabetic patients. Our team reviews your angiography carefully and gives you a clear recommendation with the reasoning explained.
At Apollo CVHF, we assess each case carefully using advanced imaging, including IVUS, before recommending any intervention. If you have been told you need a stent and are unsure, come to us for a second opinion before you agree to anything.
Correct heart disease in women often presents differently, with fatigue, breathlessness, or jaw discomfort rather than classic chest pain. Our team is experienced in recognising and treating cardiac conditions across all patient profiles including women, diabetics, and older patients whose symptoms do not follow the textbook.
Yes. Family history is one of the strongest risk factors for heart disease, and coronary artery disease is often completely silent until a critical event. A CT coronary angiography can assess your arteries non-invasively before any symptoms appear. We recommend screening for anyone with a significant family history.
